Our large team of physicians and nurses are able to serve locations in the Greater Toronto Area, north to Orangeville and Vaughan, west to Brantford and Hamilton,  and east to Ottawa and Cornwall.

Dr. Tarek Chbat

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr. Chbat is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada with training in anesthesiology and chronic pain medicine. He finished his residency at UofT in anesthesiology in 2016 and his fellowship in chronic pain in 2017. He also has training in cosmetic medicine since 2012 and his passion has led him to practice it in several clinics in the GTA and teach it to many practitioners. He enjoys playing various competitive sports and spending time with his family when he’s not at work.

Dr. Stephen Milone

CCFP, FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTICING ANESTHESIA

Dr. Stephen Milone graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto in 2002 and received his postgraduate training in both Family Medicine and Anesthesia at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He maintains his privileges in the Department of Anesthesia at Headwaters Health Care Center in Orangeville and also holds faculty positions as Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Queens University. With many years of experience in hospital settings and in various out-of-hospital locations, he has developed a safe and effective approach to the delivery of anesthesia for both children and adults. A husband and father of three, he enjoys spending quality time with family as well as in activities such skiing and hockey, and contributes to his local community as a volunteer member on several boards of directors.

Dr. Matt Kurrek

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr. Matt Kurrek received his anesthesia training in Boston before moving to Canada where he is a Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Toronto. His clinical hospital appointment is at the Scarborough and Rouge Hospital and his clinical work includes regular work in out-of-hospital premises.

Dr. Stephen Tomini

CCFP, FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTICING ANESTHESIA

Dr. Stephen Tomini graduated from the Family Medicine residency in Thunder Bay with his Anesthesia training at McMaster (2006) after having done his undergraduate studies at Western (in Music and Science) and his Medical School at the University of Ottawa (2003). Dr. Tomini holds and Active staff appointment at Headwaters HCC, and Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Jurgita Markus

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr. Markus graduated from medical school and received her M.D. degree in Lithuania. She then pursued her post-graduate training in Brussels, Belgium and Montpellier, France, where she completed 2 years of anaesthesia residency. After immigrating to Canada, she completed her final year of medical school at McMaster University and anaesthesia residency at the University of Toronto. She has worked as an anaesthesiologist at different hospitals throughout the GTA and northern Ontario, as well as in British Columbia. Since 2015, she has been on staff as an anaesthesiologist at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga. She also works in several out-of-hospital clinics including plastic surgery, endoscopy, and dental offices.

Dr. Peter Kuszewski

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr. Peter Kuszewski is a RCPS(C) specialized anesthesiologist who did his FRCPC training at the University of Western Ontario, London Ontario with fellowship training at Sunnybrook (University of Toronto). He has staff privileges at JBH (Joseph Brant Hospital), Burlington and holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor at McMaster University.

Dr. Mark Mensour

CCFP, FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTICING ANESTHESIA

Dr. Mark Mensour is an Associate Professor with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.  His research interests include Procedural Sedation and Analgesia and Monitoring, Medical Education, Analgesia in the Emergency Department as well as Acute Myocardial Infarction management.  Nationally he is a course developer and instructor with CAEP’s EDTU and Emergency Medicine Review Course ACT I, II, III, IV and an Instructor for AIME and AIME Update.  Provincially he is an ACLS advisor representing for the Heart and Stroke foundation of Ontario and teaches ACLS, PALS and BLS nationally.  Most recently his interest in adult education has led him to the position of Director of CPD for the CAEP.  As a curriculum instructional designer he has created courses such as Evidence Based Resuscitation and continues to work new projects while working in Anaesthesiology and Emergency Medicine in Muskoka, Hamilton and Toronto.

Dr. Dipen Thakrar

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr. Dipen Thakrar is an Anesthesiologist with experience in a variety of academic and community practice locations.  Originally from Malawi, Dr. Thakrar grew up in Vancouver and obtained his undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University, medical degree from the University of British Columbia and then moved to Ontario to finish his anesthesia residency training at the University of Toronto.  He completed a fellowship in Advanced Clinical Practice at a quaternary trauma centre and currently has hospital privileges at both Lakeridge Health in Oshawa and Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto where he cares for both adult and pediatric patients.

 Dr. Thakrar has an interest in medical education and has received several awards for his teaching.  He has completed the Stepping Stones program at the University of Toronto and also holds an adjunct faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor at Queen’s University.

Dr. Aaron Lau

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr. Aaron Lau is an Anesthesiologist who completed his residency training at the University of British Columbia. He currently practices within Trillium Health Partners and Halton Healthcare. His research interests include the advancement of perioperative medical care and regional anesthesia.

Dr. Marietjie Slabbert Keilty

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr Marietjie Slabbert Keilty is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and holds internationally acquired specialist training in Anesthesiology, Critical Care and EMS. She completed her medical undergraduate training in South Africa in 2001 then specialized in anesthesia and critical care in Oxford England before moving to Canada in 2014. She completed a fellowship in trauma anesthesia and critical care at the University of Toronto and worked as a staff anesthesiologist and ICU physician in British Columbia for 6 years before returning to Toronto. In addition to her active academic and clinical anesthesiology practice in the GTA, she also has a special interest and involvement in major trauma management, prehospital care and physician leadership.

Dr. Wendy Liu

CCFP(EM), CCFP(FPA), FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTISING ANESTHESIA

Dr. Wendy Liu graduated from medical school at the University of Western Ontario in 2013. She completed her family medicine residency training at the University of Toronto in 2015, followed by her emergency medicine training at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in 2016. After working as an emergency physician she returned to residency to complete her family practice anesthesia training at the University of Toronto in 2022.

Dr. Montana Mason

CCFP, FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTISING ANESTHESIA

Dr. Mason graduated from McMaster Medical School after finishing her undergraduate degree at Queen's University. She then completed her family medicine residency and anesthesia training at the University of Toronto. She holds staff privileges at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville and her practice includes regular out-of-hospital clinics.

Dr. Dan Weadick

CCFP, FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTISING ANESTHESIA

Dr. Weadick graduated from Queen's University School of Medicine before completing residency programs in Family Medicine at McMaster University and Family Practice Anesthesia at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. He holds staff privileges at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, where he provides anesthesia for both adult and pediatric patients.

Dr. Pavan Mehat

CCFP, FAMILY MEDICINE PRACTISING ANESTHESIA

After graduating summa cum laude from Boston University (BU) with a bachelors in biomedical engineering, he completed a masters in pharmaceutical sciences at the University of British Columbia.  Dr Mehat then attended medical school at UBC and completed his family residency training at the UBC Victoria site. He then moved to Toronto to complete his anesthesia training at the University of Toronto.  He holds staff privileges at Sault Area and Georgian Bay General Hospital. During his undergraduate years in Boston, he competed for the BU NCAA Division-One Track and Field team, and he still enjoys staying physically active in his free time.

Dr. Rami A. Kamel

FRCPC, SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA, FRCPC PAIN MEDICINE

Dr. Rami A. Kamel finished his medical degree with high honours from Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt. He then completed research fellowships at Harvard Medical School and the University of Toronto, where he stayed and finished his anesthesia residency training, earning the Fellowship of the Royal College of Canada. He then went on to complete another residency training at McMaster University in Pain Medicine and earned another Royal College sub-specialist designation. Dr. Kamel enjoys teaching ACLS courses as a faculty at the Sunnybrook Advanced Life Support Program. He is passionate about clinical education and is currently pursuing a Clinician Educator Program formation at McMaster University. 

He holds a staff appointment at Scarborough Health Network as an anesthesiologist. He also holds the academic appointment of Assistant Professor (Adjunct) at McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences. 

When he’s not practicing medicine, he enjoys playing the violin and other musical instruments. He enjoys calligraphy and portraiture and has also trained in sketching and painting.

Dr. Theresa Cummings

FRCP(C), SPECIALIST IN ANESTHESIA

Dr. Theresa Cummings received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia. She then moved to Toronto and completed her Anesthesiology Training (FRCPC) at the University of Toronto. After completing her training, she joined staff at Southlake Regional Hospital for several years and now currently practices within Trillium Health Partners.

Tamara Schooley

RN

Tamara graduated from Lakehead University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN). Tamara works in the Emergency Department at Headwaters Health Care Center. She is certified in Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Tamara has taken Coronary Care 1 course and Patient Assessment course as well as Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).  Outside of work, Tamara enjoys spending time with her family. She has four wonderful children. They all play multiple sports which keeps her very busy!

Alison Saunders

RN

Alison Saunders graduated from George Brown College in 1992 and has been an RN for 30 years. Her background is in Critical Care and Emergency nursing. Alison worked at Toronto Western Hospital in the Med/Surg/Neuro ICU for 10 years and at the Trillium Hospital in the ICU for about 5 years following that. She has been working in the ER at Headwaters Health Care Center for the past 11 years and is now the Charge Nurse in the ER department and have been in that role for the past 2 years. Alison is certified in BLS, ACLS and PALS. Allison’s children are all grown now but she has 4 fur babies that she enjoys spending time with when she is not working.

Patricia Gibson

RN

Patricia Gibson is a Registered Nurse who graduated from Trent University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  Since then she has worked in the Emergency Department at Headwaters Health Care Center in Orangeville and has enjoyed it thoroughly. She is certified in ACLS, PALS, BLS, and Coronary Care 1. Outside of work, she enjoys sports and reading.  She spends a lot of her time off with family, friends, and 3 dogs. She is thrilled to be a part of the Anesthesia Service Consultants team!

Steffanie Sardelis

RN

Steffanie graduated from Humber College/Univeristy of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Nursing degree in 2020. Prior to that she worked as a Registered Practical Nurse for 5 years. Steffanie works in the Emergency Department at Headwaters Health Care Center. She is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Steffanie has also taken Coronary Care 1 as well as Trauma Nursing Core Course and is currently working towards her Emergency Nursing Certificate. Outside of work Steffanie loves reading, cooking, travelling and spending time with her family.
